Hip-Hop Culture consists of four basic modes of expression: MCing (or rapping), DJing (or turntablism), the Breakdancing (or Bboying), and Graffiti. Although these modes of expression have attached other over time such as philosophy, poetry and fashion.

Origins and History of Hip Hop


This lifestyle emerged in the mid 70 'in New York. Arises from parties that is used to do in black neighborhoods of the city, where there was music and dancing. The rhythms were more liked soul, funk and hard. But when just the drums, which put the disks (today known as Dj's) isolated the rhythms and the singers (Mc's current) were reciting and improvising on these bases.


Gradually, through techniques such as audio mixing and scratching (moving the disc forward and backward, to achieve different effects), it has evolved significantly and was getting closer to what we know today. And with this evolution also appeared a new dance style at parties: The Break Dance.


During the entire decade of the 80 'and part of the 90's it was thought that hip hop was just a fad and would disappear. But quite the opposite. Not only has not disappeared, but several styles of music have come out of it: mainstream, gangsta rap, electro hop, hip hop, Latin (from its beginnings in hip hop has kept a very close relationship with the Latino community in New York).

What is Reggaeton?







Reggaeton is a variant of Raggamuffin , which in turn comes from the Reggae , and Hip Hop . The characteristics of this style of music are his lyrics, sung in Spanish, and the influence of other Latin styles such as Bomba and Salsa.


Reggaeton is a relatively new genre that has become popular in the Caribbean nations from the nineties.

Of course this kind of music is much easier to compose and play than the academi music.It doesn’t have to read any sheet music but is heard also through the mass media. The great freedom which its performs this kind of music is because of theirs musical standards. The pop is a genre that is spreading throughout the world, without distinction of social class, and where they mix and branch with ease, and rapidly evolving. All these types of musical genres are clearly included within one of the two previous types, however, some popular music genres such as jazz and ragtime, also have some features of academic music.
